=This module locates files created on your computer when you surf on the Internet and allows you to delete them.
=Internet Cleaner can also locate and delete Windows registry entries created during Internet surfing sessions.
=Why delete these things? Firstly, these files and entries are an accessible record of the websites you've visited
=and the files you've downloaded. Deleting them deletes the "visible trail" of your online activities. In addition
=to this, all these files and entries also occupy valuable space on your hard disk. Deleting them makes this space free
=for more useful purposes.
=OPTIONS: The Options screen contains the settings controlling what kind of files and entries you want to search for.
=COOKIES: Select the Cookies screen to specify whether you want to find cookies, and the kinds of cookies to scan for.
=This screen also contains an explanation of what cookies are and other relevant information.
=SCAN: Selecting Scan starts the search using the selected options (some additional tips are displayed first).
=SECURITY: Nothing is deleted during the scan, and nothing is deleted later without your express permission.
=RESULTS: When the scan is completed you can select Results to display the lists of redundant items found.
=You can then view the items, make changes to the lists and delete those you want to get rid of.
=IMPORTANT:
=The default options are designed for maximum security and will only find items that can safely be deleted.
=If you're unsure about making changes it's best to leave the settings as they are. Just click on Scan to begin.
=Each Internet browser stores its temporary Internet files, cookies etc. in a different location. If you have more than one
=browser installed you can use the options below to specify which one you want to clean up. At the moment Internet
=Cleaner supports Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape and Opera.
=
=NOTE: Please remember that you can only clean up the "Internet trails" of one browser at a time! If you want to scan and
=clean up more than one browser you must perform a separate session for each installed browser.
=Internet Browsers:
=Microsoft Internet Explorer (Versions 4 - 6)
=Netscape Navigator (Version 4.7x)
=Opera
=Selected Browser:
=Name:
=Version:
=NOTE:
=Not all functions are supported for the selected browser and no detailed information can be displayed in the Results screen.
=(This is because this browser stores its temporary files in a proprietary database whose contents cannot be accessed.)
=Netscape (Version 6.x)
=Surfing on the Internet creates several different kinds of files and entries on your computer. Some of these,
=particularly the temporary Internet files (browser cache) can always be deleted safely. Others, like the history
=or cookies, have "convenience" functions that you lose if you delete them. For example you may have to type
=in Internet site passwords manually and the Internet auto-complete function will lose its "memory".
=Scan for temporary Internet files (browser cache)
=All the components of the web pages you visit (graphics, texts etc.) are stored on your computer to speed up access
=to the pages next time you visit the same site. (They are then loaded from your disk instead of being downloaded.)
=You can ALWAYS delete these files safely. If they are not there they are simply recreated automatically.
=Scan for browser records of visited Internet sites
=These items record the Internet sites you have visited. They are used for the "autocomplete" and "drop-down
=address list" functions in the browser's Address: field, which provide quick access to sites you have visited
=recently. If you can do without the convenience it's best to delete these items to prevent others from
=seeing this information on your computer.
=In Netscape(r) and Opera(r) these entries also include the browser's History list. In Microsoft(r) Internet Explorer
=the History must be deleted separately using the Clear Windows History Folder option in the Scan screen.
=Cookies are small files that Internet sites save on your computer. They are used to store information like settings
=names and passwords that you have entered for the website, and also information about your surfing activity.
=When you revisit the website the cookies are loaded automatically so that you don't have to reenter your settings.
=This is how websites can welcome you with your name as soon as you access them, which can be useful and fun.
=
=SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS: Cookies can also be used for "other" purposes, like storing records of all websites you visit.
=This capability is often abused to collect marketing information. You must decide whether the convenience is worth
=the risk, and whether you trust the sites you visit. See your browser documentation for tips on cookies settings.
=Scan for Cookies
=When this is selected Internet Cleaner scans for cookies and selects all cookies for deletion in the Results screen.
=EXCEPTIONS: Cookies stored by your trusted websites (see below) will be excluded from the scan.
=Trust these Websites: (Internet Explorer only)
=Excludes the cookies of sites listed below from the scans, so that you can keep trusted and "useful" cookies.
=To add a site just enter the URL (e.g. www.amazon.com) in the entry field and click on Add. To delete a site just
=select the site in the list and then click on Remove. We have included a short list of sites we trust as examples.
=To add a site enter the URL here and select Add:
=After choosing your options you can start the scan. The default program settings are safe and effective.
=You can generally leave all the options in the other program screens as they are. Please DON'T change any
=settings that you don't understand. Select Options / Reset in the File menu to restore the program's default settings.
=START SCAN: To start the scan just click on the Start Scan button at the bottom of this screen.
= Nothing is deleted during the scan! Afterwards the results will be displayed so that you can choose the
=items you want to delete.
=IMPORTANT:
= Please close any open browser windows before starting the scan! If you don't do this Internet Cleaner
=might not be able to access files currently in use by your browser. It's also advisable to go offline during
=the scan and stay offline until you've checked all the items found and deleted those that you want to delete.
=Start Scan
=Empty the Windows History Folder
=This folder stores records of all the websites, network sites and files you access with the Windows Explorer and
=MS Internet Explorer. You can see its contents by selecting the History icon in Windows Explorer or Internet
=Explorer - and so can anybody else with access to your computer! Emptying this folder is the only way to delete
=the Internet Explorer History; in other browsers you just need to delete the visited sites records (see Options).
=Empty Windows History
=When the scan is completed you will see a brief summary of the results below,
